Counselling Suicidal Clients – A Workshop with Dr Andrew Reeves in Stockport

Counselling Suicidal Clients: Tight Ropes and Safety Nets

Friday 18th October 2013

Counselling Suicidal ClientsCounselling suicidal clients can challenge the most experienced practitioner. Knowing how best to respond, how to manage organisational demands and ways in which to help clients explore their suicidal thoughts demands commensurate skill. This workshop, developing a relational way of working with suicide in the therapy process, allows participants to explore their own responses to suicide, which might include anxiety, fear and apprehension, as well as considering the ethical and professional imperatives of such work.  In this workshop Dr Andrew Reeves will consider: perspectives on suicide; talking about suicide with clients; assessment of suicide risk; and the counsellor’s process.  This will be conducted in the form of an interactive workshop.
